Satanic Temple Unveils Statue at Arkansas Capitol

In a shocking display of the depths of human depravity and the distance to which our culture is moving away from the things of God, the Satanic Temple recently protested the placement of a Ten Commandments monument on the capitol grounds in Little Rock, Arkansas. The eight and a half foot tall bronze statue of Baphomet, a winged half man- half goat creature, with two children looking onward affectionately was placed on the back of a large flatbed truck and driven to the Capitol building where their protest took place. The organized protest featured five speakers, including the Satanic Temple's spokesperson and co-founder, and was attended by a few dozen individuals who supported the Satanic Temple’s agenda that religious displays should not be placed on public property.

Satanic Temple Filed Lawsuit

This recent protest came as a result of the 2015 bill that led to the Ten Commandments monument’s installation on Arkansas’ Capitol property. This bill motivated the Satanic Temple to file a lawsuit in 2017. The Satanic Temple claimed that in the essence of the First Amendment and in the name of religious freedom their statue should be placed on the same Capitol grounds that exhibit the Ten Commandments monument. A letter was also sent to the Arkansas legislature asking for support for a bill to ensure the satanic statue would be displayed. Fortunately, not a single Arkansas legislator responded to this request. Lucien Greaves, spokesman and co-founder of the Satanic Temple maintained that the recent protest was “intended to be an inclusive gathering where The Satanic Temple will be celebrating pluralism along with Christian and secular speakers. People of many faiths will come together at the Capitol to reject the Arkansas State Legislature's efforts to privilege one religion over others.” Obviously, we here at WPM disagree with this disturbed sentiment. This recent protest ny the Satanic Temple illustrated the depth that many are deceived by Satan and are giving the Devil a foothold in their lives while trying to inject Satanism into the lives of other Americans.

Relevant Biblical Passages

The Bible indicates that such deception is in keeping with the character of Satan.  In Hebrew, the name Satan means “the accuser.” In fact, the Bible describes Satan as “the accuser of our brethren” (the saints of God) in Revelation 12:10. Additionally, Ezekiel 28:12-18 describes Satan as being “full of wisdom.”  Yet, the wisdom of Satan did not prevent his pride from causing his own fall from heaven. Many Bible teachers point to Isaiah 14:12-17 as being indicative of Satan’s desire to ascend to a position of authority in the heavenly council above that of even God Himself! Thus, it is completely within the spectrum of Satan’s past actions to influence groups like the Satanic Temple to protest the public display of the Ten Commandments. Yet, many believe this is predicted by Bible prophecy! During the Tribulation period Satan will deceive the whole world (Revelation 12:9) so it is not too far-fetched to believe he is already deceiving many in the world today. However, this should motivate believers to fight such satanic influence. After all, Jesus has promised that “the gates of hell shall not prevail” against His church (Matthew 16:18). This recent public display of Satanism should motivate us to pray fervently!

PRAY: Pray that these recent efforts in Arkansas by the Satanic Temple would be rejected by the American population at large.  Pray also that their satanic agenda would not attract any converts and that their efforts to portray Satanism as a positive movement would be defeated.
