“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior…” 1 Timothy 2:1-3
The Presidential election of November 2016 was an exciting and unprecedented event in American politics. For the first time in the history of America, the winner was a man who had never before held a political office.
Regardless of who you voted for or what your opinion may be of our past or current leaders, they always stand in need of our sincere prayer as they make difficult decisions.
Trump has taken power in a volatile time
Trump has taken his place in the Oval Office during a time of great turmoil on the global scene. Relationships with Russia are strained, the Middle East is as volatile as ever, and even here in America violence and corruption are among the daily concerns of peaceful citizens.
Our President needs to be supported by prayerful Christians who recognize the great burden of his position and lift him up to the Lord in prayer. After all, it is God who allowed Trump to gain the position that he now sits in.
Some things to pray for
As you pray for the President of the United States, here are a few specific petitions that you can lift up to God in prayer:
- Pray that Trump’s administration would continue to defend religious liberty, despite pressures from liberal media and politicians
- Thank the Lord for President Trump’s stand against abortion and ask that it would continue and that it would send a strong message to all pro-choice supporters
- Ask God that the President would work to build a stronger relationship with the people of Israel and offer them America’s protection
- Pray that the Lord would give President Trump the wisdom to deal with the many threats that ISIS poses on the global scene
There are many items that could be added to this list, but these are among some of the biggest issues facing America right now. Again, the important thing is that we spend time asking the Lord to guide the future of our great nation and to direct the man whom He has made our Commander-in-Chief for such a time as this.
