In an exciting development that we at WPM have been reporting on, one of the world’s most famous physicists; Michio Kaku, has concluded that the universe was created by God! To be clear, Kaku has not yet professed a belief in God as revealed in the pages of Scripture, but that he would even speak in the terms he has is exciting and encouraging. Kaku is the Henry Semat Chair and Professorship in theoretical physics at the City College of New York. He has published more than 70 articles in physics journals on topics such as superstring theory, supersymmetry, hadronic physics, and supergravity. Thus, he is a well-respected voice among his peers in of the world of science. As recently quoted by the Geophilosophical Association of Anthropological and Cultural Studies Kaku’s most recent conclusion states that “we are in a world made by rules created by an intelligence. Believe me, everything that we call chance today won’t make sense anymore.” He added, “To me, it is clear that we exist in a plan which is governed by rules that were created, shaped by a universal intelligence and not by chance.”
Kaku Compares God to a Mathematician
Building on his earlier work on subatomic particles, Kaku concluded, “The final solution resolution could be that God is a mathematician.” This is not the first time Kaku has offered such encouraging statements. He had previously considered theoretical particles that comprise the vacuum space between particles. Thus as Kaku explained “that God is a mathematician,” certain similarities are noticeable to what Baruch Spinoza and Albert Einstein believed. However, even more encouraging for the sake of the Gospel is that Kaku’s statements are also similar to those made by Seventeenth-century French mathematician, physicist, and philosopher Blaise Pascal, and eighteenth-century Swiss mathematician and physicist Leonhard Euler, who were both Christians. Therefore, we should be ultimately encouraged by this news and still cautious as this has similarities to certain end times prophecies.
Relevant Bible Passages
The Bible teaches that as the end times draw closer there will be an increase in knowledge. Daniel 12:4 indicates that “even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased” (KJV). While we can certainly debate the validity of many claims made by scientists, we cannot deny that the wealth of human knowledge has obviously increased – and appears to be increasing every day! Technological advances have been made in the areas of health care, communications, computers, and travel just to name a few. While Kaku’s statement is short of an acknowledgment of the God of the Bible and Jesus as Savior it is still very encouraging that he acknowledges our universe was not created by chance! Therefore, since all truth is ultimately God’s truth we can only expect that as certain areas of knowledge increase God will reveal Himself in other areas of knowledge. Perhaps God is choosing to reveal Himself to more members of the modern scientific community through the developing work of Michio Kaku. We should be in prayer for this man and his work.
